Jo Cook – Triathlete Rotherham

Fantastic! My husband booked me a session for a Christmas present to try to boost my triathlon times. SwimTherapy has amazing hi-tech facilities which are put to their optimum use by the very knowledgeable coaches. The session was hugely enjoyable and interesting and the coaching was superb. The information from the coach was then reinforced on the invaluable DVD. All I need now is CycleTherapy and RunTherapy!

I should just mention that as a somewhat tentative female travelling by myself, I felt completely comfortable and at ease with the whole situation due to the professionalism of SwimTherapy.

Thank you.

The facilities were good. The coach (Jack) worked seamlessly with our club head coach in terms of addressing the points identified by the club for each swimmer to work on.
I felt the video analysis was an immensely powerful tool to demonstrate the difference between swimmer perception of technique and the reality, and from there making appropriate corrections.
I feel Swim Therapy is an excellent way of speeding up the process of stroke correction and we will be back.

Both our daughters love competitive swimming. They both train with and swim for a Midland Speedo League Div 1 team and have competed nationally for their school at U13 and U12 level. However, there is much more they could learn, particularly in terms of technique. We were attracted to SwimTherapy by the opportunity it provided for both one-to-one coaching and the underwater/slow-motion view provided by the camera/computer set-up. We were not disappointed.

The sessions were coached by Jack Lay whose relaxed style with and clever questioning of our daughters quickly highlighted some key areas on which to concentrate. After the warm-up, these areas were investigated via the underwater camera arrangement. In our younger daughter, we quickly identified an issue on rotation in the freestyle and later with the second leg-kick in the fly. With our older daughter, it was her freestyle legkick and the rotation on her backstroke that needed attention. At the same time, Jack was able to identify and praise the positives and indeed instil a confidence in our older daughter that she did not have in her own backstroke. The sessions gave them each as individuals something to think about and concentrate on with their own technique and from last night’s training session it seems there has already been some improvement!

The sessions were relaxed, interesting and enjoyable – in our view, value for money. The facilities were warm and clean and the endless pool arrangement worked well.”

Steve Keating – Chesham

Working with Swim Therapy is helping me enormously in becoming a swimmer rather than just someone who can swim.

One to one working means that every session is tailored to my personal needs.
Filming in the tank and analysing the output is not only interesting and effective, it’s also great fun.

These guys know what they’re doing and love to see you improve. Work with them and you will.

Adam Bolster – Deepings SC Lincs

Hi Nigel

I would be delighted to give you my comments.

The facilities are excellent. It is great to be able to see your child swim ‘under’ the water as well as from all angles, which you don’t normally get to see. The child benefits most from this facility because they can analyse their own technique and immediately see any improvement. And the CD you take away with you is a constant reminder and motivation.

Everything is professional and clean. The changing facilities and showers and other little touches all add to the service.

Jack Lay is superb with Adam and his ability to explain and communicate with a boy of his age is a tremendous help. Adam thinks he’s ‘cool’!

Whenever I’ve had to telephone whoever has answered the phone has been very helpful and polite. We always get the appointment we would like.

So far I’ve recommended the service to everyone at the club who has heard we’ve been, and will continue to do so. The Templar family will soon be contacting you, and in January the Perkins and McKnights.

We are so glad we found you – it was just the boost Adam needed.

My first visit to Swim Therapy was about 18 months ago.

I am a latecomer to swimming, learning freestyle to compete in triathlons.
I am not a “natural swimmer” and had difficulty in gaining good technique.
I attended a variety of swim coaching days/training camps which had took
my swimming to a certain level but I wasn’t satisfied with this and was really
determined to improve beyond this.

My first session was a revelation, to actually see what I looked like in the
water was quite alarming! Nigel and Jack have proved patient and as determined
as me for my swimming to improve, trying all different approaches to correcting
faults and teaching me correct technique, this has not always been easy!

Swim Therapys state of the art video and computer equipment provide you with
quality video analysis which is invaluable! To be able to break down each element of the stroke and study each phase individually really helps you realise what is actually
happening and how to correct any faults.

18 months later my swimming is one of lifes pleasures. I feel comfortable and
confident in the water and now coach my training companions. I have still alot
to learn so aim to visit Swim Therapy every 4-6 weeks. I have learnt that there
is no “quick fix” to swimming, but with regular visits and then going away and
practising what we have worked on, my stroke is now coming together nicely.

Nigel and Jack are always just a phone call or email away for any questions or
advice.

I would recommend Swim Therapy to anyone who is “serious” about improving
their swim stroke.

Jon Bennett – Derby Tri

Having come down for my first session with ‘Swim Therapy’ on Monday of this week,I would just like to share a few comment’s with you.

First of all I was very ‘impressed’ with the whole ‘relaxed’ set up,and may I add very ‘clean’ as well.

I had ‘booked’ a 60 min session and as you would expect ‘in the dark’ what happens,

As a ‘Tri’ Coach myself,I found ‘Jack’s’ knowledge and ‘above all’ coaching ‘style’ absolutely ‘first’ class,

He ‘picked up some ‘point’s about my swim very ‘quickly’ and gave me loads to work on……..

thanks’ again, see you in two month’s

‘will recommend’

Hi Nigel, great session, it was a real motivating experience for my daughter. Her swimming has been ‘stuck in a rut’ for 12mths and she has been a bit down. In the car on the way home she didn’t stop talking about it. We all learned a lot. Well done! Val. 5.12.07

What a great service and set up! Within minutes your watching your video playback looking at your faults then being advised what to do next… It’s great to see the improvements on the screen during the session. Very clean facilities and lots of good knowledge was given to take away and practise further, so two happy customers here! We both had an hour session each and certainly learned more than time spent doing a whole swim weekend. 29th Nov 2007

Eric Blakie – North East Triathlete

Name –Eric Blakie aged 54 member of Ryton Triathlon club in NE England.I’ve been doing tri’s for about 6 years.Competative at top level in my age group from Sprint to Ironman.

Facilities –very clean,modern and professional.

The session—excellent ! It take s a few minutes to get used to the endless pool but after that my coach Jack was very easy to understand and very calm throughout.

My problem was that after 6 years of swimming I had ceased to improve and I know from previous underwater footage that what I think I’m doing and what I’m actually doing are two entirely different things. The session enabled me to visualise that much more clearly and then see the difference that the Coach’s instructions made–immediately.I took home the DVD with commentary, played it again that evening and was in the pool 7.00am next morning.I was able to focus on my problem areas and noticed an immediate improvement in ease of swimming.

I would recommend the facility to any body who seriously wants to improve –and go for the two hours –its not all swimming and passes very quickly!

Cheers

Eric

Tom Hempenstall – CoSTA St Albans

Tom has attended 3 sessions at SwimTherapy, the first session concentrating on his front crawl, with a little bit of breaststroke, and the other two on his butterfly, with a very little bit on backstroke. All strokes have improved following this coaching and Tom (and I) have real clarity on what we need to work on. For example, getting his shoulders clear of the water in ‘fly, entering the water gently and reaching forward on crawl, rotating/ rotating/ rotating on backstoke. The facilities/ equipment at SwimTherapy are excellent – pool, shower, cameras, computer analysis, DVD preparation. Tom has been taught by Nigel (one session) and Jack (two sessions). Both have been extremely patient with Tom, something that is important given Tom’s learning difficulties and quickly developed an excellent rapport with Tom, relaxing him and making him think about his stroke. Tom has enjoyed each session and is always keen to come back for more. We would recommend SwimTherapy to anyone. Tom swims with CoSTA swimming club at St Albans and has recently been invited to train with the Mencap GB national swimming squad. 26th November 2007

Swimmer – Leicestershire

We have found Swimtherapy very helpful. The coaches approach friendly but professional, instructions always pitched in a way my daughter understood. We have visited a few times for different strokes and each time my daughter has shown an improvement that was noticeable. As people on poolside have commented on her improvement. The premises and facilities in my daughters words are “fantastic”.

Hope this is of help to anyone wondering if they should try Swimtherapy

Carl Smith – Triathlete Cheshire

Hi Nigel, I enjoyed the visit to SwimTherapy and got a lot out of it. Just by repositioning my head I got an immediate reduction in drag and a corresponding increase in speed. On my return I swam 100m in 1:41, my previous best before this being around 2mins. Still slow I know by proper swimming standards, but a big increase in speed for me! Am now concentrating on improving my kick as I now realise that there is great room for improvement there also! 24th Nov 2008

Emma – Swimmer Midlands

Hi Jack, just to say thanks so much for Emma’s session last week. As I mentioned, a friend told me about your facilities and he is such an experienced swimmer, I thought it may be all a bit too much for Emma because she is only 11. How wrong I was! The lesson was pitched at just the right level for her and she has knocked over a second off her frontcrawl over 25 metres straight away! Thanks again and hope to see you soon. 22nd Nov 2007

Richard Marsh – Triathlete

I thoroughly enjoyed the session yesterday. I thought the facilities were excellent, clean, modern and brimming with technology! The level of expertise was extremely high…….the coach was also able to tailor the session towards Triathlon swimming which helped enormously. All in all an excellent investment of time and money and well worth making the trip down from Chester. 19th Nov 2007
